The churches can be decorated in a variety of ways. A few ideas are shown in the following images.
Entrances can be important. Sashes to line the bridge and posies can be included as a pretty addition.
A floral arch over the porch, flower trees or milk churns, floral heart on the gate, or even a simple welcome sign.
You only get one chance to make the first impression.
Inside the church pew ends can be decorated with simple sashes or with a pretty floral posy. Screens can be
decorated with a floral arch. Pedestal displays or a floral arch can be positioned to suit. The alter is usually
decorated with a long-low floral display. This can be relocated to your reception area as a table centre piece.
Window sills can be decorated with candles and a loose mix of foliage and flowers. Depending on their position,
lighted candles are sometimes not allowed in the churches where there is a fire risk but artificial battery candles
can sometimes be effective. Ask the verger for confirmation if you require candles.

WELCOME
There are two churches associated with the Estate of
Orchardleigh. The Island Church of St Mary’s and All Saints
Church in the nearby hamlet of Lullington.
St Mary’s Church - Orchardleigh
Idyllically located on it’s own Island at the heart of the Estate,
lies St Mary’s Church. The remoteness of the unique setting on
the edge of the lake makes it utterly romantic.
Due to its position there is no electricity supply to the church
which means all the services are candlelit and the organ has to be pumped by hand!
The church is approached over a narrow bridge and is the smaller of the two churches.
All Saints Church - Lullington
This pretty Norman church is beautifully situated in the
peaceful hamlet of Lullington on the edge of the Orchardleigh
Estate. The ride to the church through the scenic estate is
enchanting especially taken in a beautiful horse-drawn carriage.
Guests are transported from Orchardleigh House by coach.
The Lily Locket appreciates the architectural beauty of these
churches and believes that subtle decoration should add to their
character but not overpower the natural features of their own
historical elegance.
